Programme Highlights: When the Sunbeam Theatre in North Point took its final bow in March 2025, its story did not end. Through virtual reconstruction, visitors can once again explore its stage and revisit the legacy of Cantonese opera masters—now preserved in immersive digital form. Heritage, in this sense, evolves into new ways of being experienced. This lecture explores how emerging technologies are reshaping the preservation and interpretation of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage. From virtual theatre reconstructions to digital archives of traditional painting and performance, technology offers new ways to document and re-experience cultural memory.
