This lecture explores how Hong Kong children’s literature represents the city through the dynamic interplay of visual and textual narratives. It explores how picture books and children’s texts depict urban spaces, local culture, and everyday life, and how these representations shape readers’ understanding of individuals, community, and place. The lecture also considers the aesthetics, cultural representation, and educational value of visual–textual storytelling within the Hong Kong context.
