History:
SAGE was recommended by the Social Welfare Department to set up the centre at Kwai Hing Estate. The centre started operation on 25 June, 1980. This is the first social centre for the elderly established by SAGE.
In 1998, an extended premises was granted to our Centre by Social Welfare Department, so as to provide a more comfortable and spacious environment for our elders.
As Neighbourhood Elderly Centres (NECs) have been implemented since 2002/03 to provide elders with a more comprehensive range of support services, the Social Welfare Department has also upgraded our Social Centre for the elderly to NEC in 1 April, 2003. We aim to provide expanded functions and appropriate services for elders and their carers, so as to enable elders to continue living in the community.
The centre was named after as Y. K. Fung Neighbourhood Elderly Centre in 2012 after receiving the donation fund from the Fung Yiu King Charitable Foundation.
Objectives:
To enable elders continue to stay in the community, to lead a healthy, respectful and dignified life, to enhance their positive and contributive role and to involve the public to build up a caring community.
