Starting in 2011, the Hong Kong Youth Service Corps (HKYCS) plans to subsidize 18 - 35 year-old high school graduates, junior college students and working young people to serve the poor areas of the Mainland for a whole academic year or a semester, covering the provision of education, health, environmental protection and other knowledge.
Providing volunteering teaching support services mainly in Shaoguan and Meizhou, Guangdong Province, the plan is fully supported by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council of China, the people's governments of Shaoguan and Meizhou. The relevant authorities will be responsible for arranging service posts, coordinating accommodation and management. The organizers will also provide sufficient training for the members to prepare for the event and to have a better understanding of the service content.
