Background
IDEAL was formed by a group of people with intellectual disabilities, their parents and volunteers in 1989 and was registered as a charitable organization in 1991. Aiming at the objectives and in the spirit of “GIVE and TAKE”, the organization works actively for the people with intellectual disabilities. IDEAL is a member of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, The Hong Kong Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped, Ho-Sum Volunteer Organization and Agency for Volunteer Service and a supporting organization of Life Care Movement.
Mission & Vision
Mission:
- to develop people with intellectual disabilities with skills for independent living;
- to unite people with intellectual disabilities and their families for mutual assistance and support;
- to promote awareness and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities in society; and
- to advocate the rights and welfare for the people with intellectual disabilities.
Vision:
- to have an inclusive society with good quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities and their families
