Everyday in Hong Kong, over 3,250 tonnes of food waste are dumped into landfills, while one in five people live in poverty and struggle to eat. Breadline is Hong Kong’s first public digital platform for food rescue. Volunteers connect with bakeries on Breadline.hk to rescue leftover bread using real-time updates to make every run count. Together, we save resources from being wasted and we support the homeless; low-income families; refugees and their children and the elderly poor, by delivering bread the same night to our grassroots partners. Our Bread Run events are on every Monday and Friday (Public Holidays included), between 6pm and 9.30pm

We are looking for volunteers who are flexible, reliant and can make decisions independently. One-timers or regular volunteers are all welcome: we operate on Mondays' and Fridays' evenings. We hope returning volunteers will want to get more involved and help our core team to make a stronger organization. Breadline has grown from a small, four-friends activity to a large city-wide endeavour involving 170 bakeries, thousands of volunteers, three cars, 5 bakery chains and 4 NGOs. We need your help to ensure no bread is ever going wasted!Our present recovery rate is over 95% but with your help we'd like to get to 100%!!
